Barberton’s annual Mum Festival is scheduled for Sept. 23-24 at Lake Anna Park. Admission is free for the fest, which features 17,000 chrysanthemums, arts and crafts, kids activities, sand sculpting, canoe races, music and water-ski shows.
Admission is free for the family-friendly event, which started as a celebration of Barberton’s centennial in 1991. Each year event organizers and volunteers arrange more than 17,000 chrysanthemums in quilt-like displays across the park’s grounds. The festival also features hanging mums and a living arch made up of approximately 120 potted mums and other plant material. The mum arrangements and arch make for a colorful festival and photo backdrop.
The event offers something for anthophiles and non-enthusiasts alike, including roving entertainers, music, arts and crafts, water-ski shows and canoe races on the lake, sand sculpting and activities for children. A variety of vendors will offer food and beverages for purchase, according to the festival website.
A mum pre-sale is scheduled for Sept. 21-22 from 1-7 p.m. Mums are $9 for an 8-inch pot or five for $40. The 2023 Mum Festival is made possible by the City of Barberton Beautification Program, City of Barberton Parks and Recreation, the Barberton Community Foundation and additional sponsors.Sign up for cleveland.com’s Rubber City UpdateIf you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
