The bald eagles nest at Dallas’ White Rock Lake that people were flocking to see and environmentalists were trying to protect plummeted to the ground on Tuesday after high wind gusts.Wildlife and city of Dallas officials were at the site Tuesday evening along with a crowd of onlookers.
The eagles had built a nest in a tree southeast of the East Lake Highlands Drive and North Buckner Boulevard intersection. Wildlife officials said that eagles are resilient and may have time to build another nest. They had been nesting there since late last year. “Really sad to see both bald eagles crying and calling as they circle where their nest once stood,” Ben Sandifer, a Dallas resident and longtime master birder, tweeted.. “I hope the eagles can find some peace and move past this horrible thing that has happened to them.”
The bald eagle nest at Dallas White Rock Lake has fallen to the ground this afternoon in high winds. Really sad to see both bald eagles crying and calling as they circle where their nest once stood. Biologists from State and City of Dallas are on site. No word on eggs or eaglets.
