Bags with hateful, anti-Semitic flyers found in Riverside Terrace, a historically Black and Jewish area
"I kind of freaked out about it," said Richard Elbein, a longtime Riverside Terrace resident who saw the flyers in the Ziploc bags while he was walking his Husky-Great Pyrenees Sunday morning. Being Jewish, he believed he may have been personally targeted, but later saw that other houses had the same bags out front.
Anti-Defamation League southwest director Mark Toubin said the group listed on the hateful flyers is associated with similar incidents in the Houston area. While the flyers are aimed at recruiting and raising money for their organization, Toubin said they can have a more sinister ripple effect. A man told police that he went to the store around 9 a.m. and returned home to find plastic bags with flyers and small pebbles in his driveway and other nearby residences on Kensington Drive, Jaso said.
