A baby boy has continued his family’s 140-year-long love affair with their football club after becoming its youngest match-going fan - at just three weeks old.
He said: “It was grand, it was great. I could say to him, ‘You’re alright, you’ve been. You’ve gone. You’re now a Burnley supporter.’ District nurse Marina, 32, said it was “amazing” to see him in the stands with his family. She added: “It’s is my Grandad's special thing that Rory is to continue going, to pass it on in the tradition.
“It first started from my great-great grandad in 1882. He lived in Liverpool at the time, but he used to travel to watch them. Ian was just six when he fell in love with the club and was so small that he had to stand on bricks to see his first game, a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City in 1944. “And he always used to have two Mars Bars and two packets of crisps, and then he’d always buy a pie. Over the last few years - what my daughter knows - is we get the pie, crisps and a drink at half time, without fail.”
