Flurry of activity continuing following Liontown action in recent weeks
SQM's unveiled an indicative bid in August of A$2.30 per share that Azure rebuffed. Azure shares subsequently spiked past A$3 per share but were at A$2.44 last week. SQM would be interested in both Azure's 60% stake in the Andover discovery and billionaire prospector Mark Creasy's 40%. Creasy also holds 13.2% of Azure.
Notionally at least, if Creasy was keen to cash in all his chips with the Chilean major, SQM would hold 40% of the Andover lithium-nickel-copper project in Western Australia's Pilbara, and more than 33% in Azure. SQM has seperately snapped up an interest in Pirra Lithium this morning.
