Henry Cisneros envisions a South Side arboretum that will be a 'cathedral of trees.'

I looked back in the newspaper’s archives and that 2015 story was the first reference I found about a potential arboretum in San Antonio.Eight years later at a May 25 luncheon, The event recognized the arboretum’s board of directors and a board of advisors, groups that are diverse ethnically and in their fields of expertise. They include arborists, business leaders, nature conservationists, bankers, lawyers as well as leaders in climate and sustainability.
The location is also significant because the Salado Creek runs through it and already contains some of the city’s largest trees. It’s near the Mission Reach and the San Antonio and Medina rivers are also on the South Side along with the city’s historic missions.The nonprofit Arboretum San Antonio says it’s ready to hear from residents about what they want to see in an arboretum.
It will be paid for by a combination of available city, county, state and federal dollars and from corporate and philanthropic dollars yet to be raised.
