New York's attorney general and the FTC accuse Shkreli of allegedly impeding generic drugs from entering the market to preserve a monopoly.
Shkreli was found guilty on three of the eight counts involving securities fraud and conspiracy to: New York’s attorney general and the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit on Monday against “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli—who is currently in prison for securities fraud—for allegedly participating in an illegal scheme to prevent competitors from selling cheaper generic versions of its drug, Daraprim, after his company raised the drug’s price by more than 4,000% in 2015.
The suit alleges the “company took specific actions to impede and delay entry by competitors and preserve its monopoly over profits,” the New York Attorney General’s office said in a statement.
