The Aurora Public Library District is aiming to fill a vacant position on its seven-member board.
The Santori Public Library in downtown Aurora is one of three branches of the Aurora Public Library. The library is currently looking to fill a vacant spot on its board.Suzanne Stegeman, who has served on the board since 2020, recently resigned because she moved out of the district. It created a vacancy on the board.An ad-hoc vacancy committee has been established of three trustees to review candidates for the position.
The board actually started seeking a replacement in August, and took applications through Sept. 5, according to Miriam Meza-Gotto, the library district’s communications manager.The board received 40 applications for the one position, and in checking for addresses, found that only one did not live in the library district. Living in the district for one year - which is the city of Aurora boundaries - is a requirement.
Meza-Gotto said the committee hopes to have a selection to recommend to the full Library Board by November. Whoever is appointed will have to stand for election in the April 2025 consolidated local government elections.
