.ThomBrowneNY has gained a reputation for avante-garde beauty looks over the past few seasons, the designer has come to rely on the “genius” of makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench and hairstylist Eugene Souleiman.
. “It’s a beautiful collaboration on my simplistic ideas—I just kind of let them go free [while staying] true to the story of the man and the woman almost melding into one, not really knowing which one is the man and which one is the woman,” Browne says. “I thought two-by-two, Noah’s Ark would be the perfect way to do it.”
Backstage, Souleiman expands on this idea of parity. “Everything’s about duality," he says. "Couples wearing identical outfits with identical hairstyles cut on opposite sides will walk out together, so they’re almost like mirror images of one another." Black-as-night patent-finish wigs reflect camera flashes as Souleiman pins upside-down veils trimmed in the house’s signature red, white, and blue grosgrain ribbons on top.
