At least six people were shot when a gunman opened fire on a South Carolina beach that was crowded with high schoolers partaking in their so-called senior skip day, authorities said.

The shooting erupted just before 5:30 p.m. on the Isle of Palms, a city roughly 15 miles northwest of Charleston. Police said the gun violence stemmed from altercations from a “large crowd” made mostly of high schoolers.
