Salma Hayek, 56, Says Her Preconceived Notions About Aging Were Wrong: ‘I Have Found It Beautiful’

. The good news is, all the abundance was worth the wait. And according to Hayek, the ride to get here hasn’t been all that bad, either. In fact, she called the experience of aging “beautiful.”

“I thought getting older meant I wasn’t going to work; I’m working,” the 56-year-old said. Not only is she working, but she also starred as the heartthrob alongside Channing Tatum in the recently releasedI thought getting older maybe meant that you’re not in love anymore; I’m in love,” she continued. “I don’t feel that I lost my flexibility or my agility or even my strength. I do have to say that I have found it beautiful, getting older with someone.

“The part that I really feel a lot of women will have in common with her is this thing that happens when you come to a certain age. It’s like, ‘Is this it for me? Have I accomplished all my potential?’ I think this is a common conflict. And it happens in your 20s, it happens in your 30s, it happens in your 40s,” she said.
