Government announces that asylum seekers will be moved from 50 hotels by the end of January
A Knowsley hotel that was the focus of riots and disorder earlier this year will be one of the first to see asylum seekers moved out under new government plans.
The Suites Hotel in Knowsley will be included in the first tranche of hotels where asylum seekers are currently housed. Speaking about the unpleasant scenes outside the hotel, Sir George told the Commons today: “People need to tone down the rhetoric and stop peddling false narratives about what’s going on with refugees.” Making a statement in the Commons, Mr Jenrick said: “I can inform the House that today the Home Office wrote to local authorities and MPs to inform them that we will now be exiting the first asylum hotels.
