Astros 6, Braves 4: Yordan Alvarez's ninth-inning blast completes Houston's comeback
Houston Astros starting pitcher Hunter Brown throws during the first inning of the team's baseball game against the Atlanta Braves, Friday, April 21, 2023, in Atlanta. ATLANTA — The Astros have clawed back to .500 for the first time since the season's opening series and they did it with another win over one of baseball's best.
After starter Hunter Brown surrendered four runs in the first inning, he and four Astros relievers combined to put up zeroes the rest of the way as the Astros' bats came to life late with a three-run seventh and then Alvarez's two-run bomb to right-center that traveled 405 feet.Mauricio Dubón is still red-hot. He reached base safely in four of his five at-bats and extended his career-high hitting streak to 15 games.
He couldn’t do it again Friday night against a potent Braves offense, although it was really just a horrific first inning that undid his previous positive results.
