People often think that once they climb up to the Grand Summit where the Happiness flag is planted, they will no longer suffer from depression.
, self-doubt, rage, jealousy, and other difficult emotions. Alas happiness is more an ephemeral concept versus a fixed point. And, to summarize German philosopher Immanuel Kant, the more we worry about being happy, the less likely we are to achieve that state. Many studies show that the pursuit of meaning is what leads a person to find fulfillment. Feel good about your day-to-day existence, even though it includes stresses and imperfections, and you are a fortunate person.
For the past few months my best friend has inexplicably been ghosting me, not answering calls or texts. Before she unfriended me on Facebook I saw she’s had a party to which I wasn’t invited. This hurts more than a romantic breakup. What can I do? Whatever the reason for her Gone Girl behavior, the silence has left you feeling powerless and yes, in pain.
