“Every Thursday and Friday we have people calling to see if they can just pick something up, but because we’re in the Flour Mill and it’s like a wedding venue, there’s not enough foot traffic for retail,” said Pandya, who fell in love with decorating cakes because of her grandmother, a wedding cake designer who worked out of her home — her kitchen table was often covered in handmade sugar-flowers, and every Sunday, when Pandya would visit her house, she was always greeted with a homemade cake.

“In any Latin culture, coffee is a central thing,” Derek said. “In the morning you have your coffee and bread, and you drink your coffee and dunk your bread into the coffee. It was the thing that brought them all to the table in the mornings, got their day started and that’s why we attached the coffee company to him.”
