A local artist is working in the extreme heat to meet a deadline to finish a mural project in Chicago’s Chinatown.
He pursued a career in art, grew up in the neighborhood and even went to grammar school right across the street from the site of the mural.
Lo was given the special opportunity to design the massive mural by a local design firm and the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community. Lo said the characters are legendary warriors in the Chinese opera. Their stories have been passed down from generation to generation. He’s hoping the mural will bring more awareness to the Chinese culture, more attention to the museum, and attract more people to the neighborhood. Lo said it’s an honor to take part in a project that has been a full circle moment.
