Football Insider has been told by sources that Nuno Tavares is not expected to play for Arsenal again after being given a green light to move.

The 2021 signing from Benfica was not in the 20-man squad for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Forest last weekend and has slipped further to the fringes. The fit-again Oleksandr Zinchenko, new signing Jurrien Timber, who is recovering from a serious knee injury suffered on his league debut, and Kieran Tierney are all ahead of Tavares in the pecking order at left-back as things stand.
But he impressed while on loan last season at Marseille and has interest from West Ham as well as Forest.The Portuguese defender made 28 appearances in the 2021-22 campaign – including 13 starts in the Premier League.also suffered the ignominy of being substituted after just 35 minutes in Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round loss against Nottingham Forest.
