Arrests made as police van smashed amid Man City celebrations in Manchester city centre
Police said 'several arrests' were made last night as Manchester City fans celebrated their club's Champions League win in the city centre.
While most of the occasion passed without trouble, Greater Manchester Police said some 'minor incidents' happened in the area. Multiple people were arrested on suspicion of public order offences amid the celebrations in the city centre.Pictures showed several fans wearing City shirts being detained by officers. Photos also showed a group of males climbing onto a police specialist search unit van, leaving it with a smashed windscreen and damaged roof.
Chief Superintendent Rick Jackson said the small number of arrests 'should not detract from what was a great night for this city'. Parklife festival also took place at Heaton Park yesterday, as well as The Weeknd concert at the Etihad stadium.
