Law enforcement sources tell FOX 29 that an argument about a girl may have sparked a deadly triple shooting outside a North Philadelphia Popeyes restaurant.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the closed Popeyes restaurant on the 300 block of West Lehigh Avenue just after 11 p.m.
Police found two boys and a girl each suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old who police say was shot multiple times in the head died at Temple University Hospital. The other two shooting victims were also brought to Temple Hospital and placed in stable condition, according to police. Authorities told FOX 29 that all three victims were employees at the Popeyes restaurant and were sitting in a car when a barrage of nearly 50 shots were fired.
A law enforcement source said the surveillance footage from the store was recovered by police to limit the chances of retaliation against restaurant management. Police believe the victims all knew the shooters and may have worked together in the past, according to the source. No arrests have been reported and authorities did not share a description of the suspects, but police sources say they believe arrests are anticipated. "We've got to get these guns under control, man," Carl Smith said. "There are too many guns on the street right now and these kids don't know what to do with themselves.
