Archbishop Mitty outrebounds Pinewood 34-12, wins its seventh CCS Open Division title in eight seasons.

SANTA CLARA – Midway through the fourth quarter of Archbishop Mitty’s 74-51 victory over Pinewood in the Central Coast Section Open Division final on Friday night, Mitty’s 6-1 senior post Maya Hernandez missed a point-blank layup.

Pinewood’s seven-player roster played with grit and passion, but no amount of determination could overcome Mitty’s overwhelming size advantage at the University of Santa Clara—Pinewood’s tallest player stood 5-11. “I’m so proud of our team,” Scheppler said. “They played their hearts out, and there’s only so much you can do against their length.”

It wouldn’t be the first time a sharpshooting Pinewood upset Mitty in a championship game. In the 2018 NorCal final, a Hannah Jump-led team shocked a Mitty squad headlined by Haley Jones in triple-overtime. “It’s crazy, because you take everything step-by-step and day-by-day, and you don’t want to expect anything in the future,” Woliczko said. “Now that we’ve won CCS, it’s pretty cool.”

King still believes in Chevron's CCS plansKing still believes in Chevron's CCS plansFederal Resources Minister Madeleine King has backed US energy major Chevron’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) efforts at its Gorgon liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, in Western Australia. The Gorgon project off the coast of Western Australia is Australia’s only carbon capture use and storage (CCUS) project in operation, and since August 2019 it has injected over seven-million tonnes of carbon dioxide into a deep saline formation beneath Barrow Island,” King said in an address to the Australia and Southeast Asia Global CCS Institute Forum.
