The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for ongoing traffic restrictions when the Anvil Rock Road Bridge construction project over Interstate 40 begins Monday, May 9. The bridge is located west of Seligman in Yavapai County.East- and westbound I-40 will be reduced to one lane in each direction under the Anvil Rock Road Bridge throughout the duration of the construction project.The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
During the bridge deck demolition, deck pouring and bridge barrier pouring operations, there will be times when full closures of I-40 will be necessary. To minimize traffic disruptions, the full closures will occur overnight, and traffic will be detoured around the work zone.Access to the I-40 on and off-ramps at Anvil Rock Road will be maintained at all times.
The $2.7 million project will include the removal and replacement of the existing bridge deck, which is the top surface of the bridge that motorists drive on, as well as the approach slabs, guardrail and pavement markings.Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
