Asian women are objectified, stalked, assaulted, and killed because of unaddressed stereotypes about our bodies. According to the, “The everyday racism and sexism against Asian women yield deadly results, [with] 41 to 61% of Asian women report experiencing physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime. This is significantly higher than any other ethnic group.”

But outside our community, the very real danger we face is severely diminished and often unacknowledged — especially when it's largely dropped from the headlines. “I’ve realized and accepted that nobody else will get it, even though it’s happening to Asians every single day in the city,” Lee said. “My non-Asian friends think we’re crazy. They don’t understand how terrifying it is, how I’m minding my own business, just doing my thing, and my safety is in jeopardy.
