Anne Sacoolas, 44, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 18, charged with causing the death of the 19-year-old by dangerous driving, the Crown Prosecution Service said on Monday afternoon. Sacoolas was allowed to leave Britain 19 days after the tragedy, when the US government asserted diplomatic immunity on her behalf.A CPS spokesman said: ‘While the challenges and complexity of this case are well known, we remain committed to securing justice in this matter.
‘Anne Sacoolas has a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice any proceedings.’Harry’s mum, Charlotte Charles, told how she and relatives felt ‘very emotional’ and ‘overwhelmed’ at the news ‘Mrs Sacoolas is now to face our justice system’.
