ANAHEIM — The Angels never seem to make anything easy, even when they win.
A night after the Angels’ bullpen gave up a ninth-inning lead in a 10-inning loss, relievers Matt Moore and Carlos Estévez split the final three innings without allowing a run.They secured a victory for Griffin Canning, his first since June 9, 2021. Canning, who has missed the last season and a half rehabbing from a back injury, was charged with three runs in five-plus innings. One of the runs scored after he was out of the game.
Canning also threw three of his slowest five fastballs of the game, which is a sign Manager Phil Nevin often cites when explaining why he pulls pitchers.
