The Angels score six runs against lefty Framber Valdez, who shut them out on Opening Day. They finish with 13 hits, including three from Jo Adell.
HOUSTON — Baseball will always surprise you.
But on Tuesday night, with Trout on the bench because of a bruised left hand, the Angels knocked Valdez out with a top-to-bottom attack in a 7-2 victory over the Astros. Kurt Suzuki then greeted reliever Bryan Abreu with a two-run double, and Brandon Marsh drove him in with a single, putting the Angels ahead 7-1.
Sandoval allowed just one unearned run, but it was a struggle. He walked two and gave up four hits, and he had trouble putting hitters away, which cranked up his pitch count to 85.
