Andor gets a cool 1970s makeover in a new fan made intro that leans into the trippy graphics and groovy music.
Andor is re-imagined as a cool 1970s Star Wars throwback TV show in a new fan trailer. The Disney+ series starring Diego Luna as reluctant rebel Cassian Andor serves as a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a movie that was itself a prequel to the original 1977 Star Wars. But while Rogue One delved into the rebellion’s efforts to secure the Death Star plans, setting up the events of A New Hope, Andor goes even deeper into Star Wars lore by exploring the very origins of the Rebel Alliance.

They’ve crafted a new Andor intro that imagines the show as a hip 1970s TV series, complete with old-school graphics, a groovy theme song and even a shout-out to George Lucas’ pre-Star Wars movie THX-1138. But such literal expansion outward into new worlds is only part of how Andor has built upon Star Wars lore. It’s also gone deeper into various cultures, taking time to explore both ends of the economic spectrum. Andor not only has time to peer into the life of a Senator like Mon Mothma, who lives in luxury on Coruscant, but it also is willing to delve into the lives of the most rag-tag residents of the galaxy, like the simple natives on the planet Aldhani.
The most important expansion pulled off by Andor however is arguably the show’s very deep dive into the ways of the Empire. Now thanks to Gilroy’s Disney+ show, fans know much more about how the vast, dehumanizing Imperial bureaucracy actually functions. Fans have even gotten a glimpse inside the Empire’s truly soul-crushing penal system thanks to the multi-episode arc set in the Narkina 5 prison, where inmates toiled away making apparent Death Star parts before executing a thrilling bust-out.
