Andy Serkis breaks down Kino Loy's big moment in Andor Episode 10 👀 'Building up to that moment when we shot that, I was carrying that fear and phobia and knowing that there was going to be an edge that he would get to... That was really thrilling...'
Andor star Andy Serkis explains Kino Loy's big moment in episode 10, "One Way Out." Serkis stars as Loy, a tough floor manager at the work prison on Narkina 5. Although he initially was determined to follow the rules and maintain a high level of productivity for the Empire until his release, Loy's conviction was broken after he realized that his captors were lying to him, and he would never attain his freedom.
I had Tony [Gilroy] explain, talk me through that. He talked me through the whole arc of the character, and so obviously I knew when I was reading the script that it would arrive at that point. And so, really, throughout the third episode that I’m in, it is with this trepidation that he faces [the jailbreak], and that’s the sacrifice. That was what was interesting to play — the drive to get these people off the ship, once it becomes a possibility.
And it was amazing because everyone did jump off that drop. There were mats below but everyone [jumped], all of the actors. There was quite a drop and just watching everybody go forward and sort of having to push against the tide was really… it was quite thrilling to actually play. How Kino Loy’s Sacrifice Will Impact Cassian’s Arc Although Loy and Cassian knew each other for a relatively short time, their time working in the Narkina 5 prison will likely shape the protagonist going forward.
