BREAKING: US passenger railway system Amtrak has canceled all long-distance trains ahead of a looming workers strike.

The announcement by Amtrak officials came on Wednesday after one of 10 labor groups that had reached a tentative agreement with the railway company voted to reject the offer. Cancelations go into effect on Thursday. ‘While we are hopeful that parties will reach a resolution, Amtrak has now begun phased adjustments to our service in preparation for a possible freight rail service interruption later this week,’ stated Amtrak.
‘These initial adjustments include canceling all Long Distance trains and could be followed by impacts to most State-Supported routes.’
