The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas will cease to exist after contention between the board of directors and staff.
The news comes during a period of controversy at the CCGD. After squabbles with the board of directors, 19 conductors, assistants and pianists left the group to create a new choir. Called the, it will hold auditions in May, with rehearsals following in September.
The problems began after Kimberley Ahrens signed a contract to succeed Nott as artistic director of the CCGD. The board decided to reduce the hours of the choir manager from 30 to 20, according to Cathy Lysinger, a CCGD parent who teaches piano at Southern Methodist University.
