After more than a decade of sitting empty, the nation’s first Super Kmart is slated to be demolished and replaced with a new kind of super store — a Meijer.
Dutton said Meijer submitted the plans on Thursday but had been in discussions with the city for about six months. The Medina Planning Commission will see the plans at a meeting on June 8.The old Kmart has had its share of issues over the years and has fallen into disrepair, though good things have been happening around it. These include a widening project on North Court Street and several new businesses.“It really has the opportunity to revitalize that entire shopping center,” Dutton said.
