Amazon has temporarily closed its Prime Pantry delivery service nationwide.

Overwhelmed by a surge in orders due to the coronavirus outbreak, Amazon has temporarily closed its Prime Pantry delivery service nationwide to restock.website readsAmazon said it was working to restock as quickly as possible but does not know when it will reopen the delivery service.

"Amazon Pantry is not accepting new orders at this time while we work to fulfill open orders and restock items following increased demand," the company said in an emailed statement."We are working hard to make these products available again and will update customers once we can take new orders." According to the note, shoppers can still find household staples and other essentials at Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods as well as in the grocery and household category, but “due to high demand, other stores may have limited availability and delivery.

Prime Pantry launched in 2014 and sells non-perishable grocery items and household essentials to Prime members. It gets its stock from grocery and consumer goods vendors.
