Fellow host Jamie Theakston kept in touch with Amanda and offered live words of encouragement as she, understandably, screamed her way up the final stretch in terrifying wind.Meanwhile, onlookers gathered at the bottom, watching on in horror, with Jamie noting that Amanda had caused ‘quite a scene’ as police had to control the crowd below.
About 20 minutes after her gruelling climb, Jamie checked in with Amanda, who revealed that only one other person had ever made it as far up as she has, making her determined to go that little bit further so the buzzer was level with her chest.
