“New Day’s Lyric” begins with a call for unity as Gorman acknowledges both the difficulty and hardship that marked 2021. But of those challenges, she notes how we’ve been “readied by it,” and that, “We steadily vow that no matter/How we are weighed down,/We must always pave a way forward.”“Come, look up with kindness yet,” she says later, “For even solace can be sourced from sorrow./We remember, not just for the sake of yesterday,/But to take on tomorrow.
