They played softball together as kids, then through four varsity seasons at San Marcos High School, winning a CIF San Diego Section Open Division championship in 2018.
San Marcos had a 95-20-2 record with Tidd and Orozco, winning the final 20 games of their senior year, ranking No. 2 in the state and No. 7 in the nation with a 28-2 record.Orozco finished with a .378 average at San Marcos with 36 homers and 129 RBIs. Orozco has started all 35 games at shortstop for the Irish, who are 23-11-1 after completing a three-game series at Louisville and a spring break trip through the Carolinas.
With an 11-6 record and a 3.03 ERA, Tidd is Notre Dame’s No. 1 pitcher. She leads the team with 104 innings and 81 strikeouts.Tidd, who is in her fifth year at Notre Dame, is hitting .316 with three homers and 23 RBIs.
