Boris Johnson's adviser Allegra Stratton resigns over Downing Street Christmas party video
Allegra Stratton said she has offered her resignation to the PM less than 20 hours after the video emerged.
Trying to hold back the tears, former ITV journalist Ms Stratton offered her"profound apologies" for joking about the alleged party during a rehearsal for a news conference in which other aides asked her about the gathering, said to have taken place on 18 December last year.ITV News obtained the footage, apparently showing Allegra Stratton rehearsing taking questions with Downing Street staff standing in for journalists.
"My remarked seemed to make light of the rules, rules that people were doing everything to obey. That was never my intention.
