With Holly taking what’s been billed as an early half-term holiday following the announcement, it was up to Alison and Dermot to steer the ship, as headlines about the former co-presenters continue to dominate the front pages.
After an alternative version of the This Morning titles that didn’t feature any of the presenters opened the show, Alison addressed viewers saying: “We can’t start today’s show without paying tribute to the man who spent the last two decades sitting on the This Morning sofa, Phillip Schofield.” Dermot continued: “So, as a show, everyone on-screen and off-screen at ITV and at This Morning want to say a huge thank you to Phil for what he’s done to make this show such a success over the last 21 years.”
Alison added: “Quite simply, we all know he’s one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had. And we and all the team wish him all the best for the future.”- Alison and Dermot’s “tribute” to Phillip Schofield
