.AlexanderWangNY shares the story behind zoekravitz’s wedding dress and the sentimental touches that he added.
, chose a Wang design that was more demure than people might expect from the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. The sleeveless, drop-waist ballerina skirt number was made with organza and micro seed pearls. As Wang explains of working with one of his oldest and best friends, “Zoë was very clear on her vision: something pure, elegant, timeless but with depth.” He adds, “She knew the reference she wanted and that was Audrey Hepburn.
Wang worked on the dress for about a year at his New York atelier, and he did around five fittings with Kravitz. “I wanted it to be perfect, and each piece was made separately and fitted individually before we put it together,” he says. The dress was draped with five layers of bias organza to give it some translucence in the light.
