Quieter hours will be in place
A budget supermarket is trialling quieter shopping hours in almost 100 sites from this week, including stores in Nottinghamshire. During the trial Aldi stores participating will stop tannoy announcements and have quieter till scan sounds.
This change will help people with autism and anxiety, as well as people who prefer a quieter shopping trip. The trial will run until the end of October but if it is successful it could be rolled out nationwide, reports The Daily Mirror.Vicky Metcalf, Diversity and Inclusion Director atAldiUK, said: “Our new sensory-friendly shopping hours aim to help those who prefer a quieter shopping experience or struggle with noisy environments.
Lidl has "Autism Aware" quiet evenings on Tuesday from 6pm until 8pm. Finally, Currys reduces noise and keep lights low until 11am every Monday to Friday.
