Alan Smith may have retired to the United States but the Rothwell native continues to follow boyhood club Leeds United very closely
Progress at Leeds United is being watched closely by fan and former player Alan Smith, who is hopeful his boyhood club will bounce back at the first time of asking, but he’s certain Daniel Farke is the right man for the job. The Rothwell native is now coaching youngsters in Florida, but continues to keep an eye on Elland Road events.
“I'm happy with the appointment of Farke as he has the credentials to take Leeds back to the top flight. The transfer window shutting is a big thing for Leeds as they didn't want to lose any more players.“I'd imagine the team is a lot more settled now. Farke dealt with the noise around the club well and stated he didn't want any player who didn't want to represent Leeds.
Smith’s comments came while he was speaking about Premier League betting to BoyleSports. With Newcastle United, another of his former clubs, about to venture to the San Siro in the Champions League, Smith reflected on his own night there with the Whites. “I feel like going there and enjoying it and taking it in will be a big part of the game plan. The Geordies will travel in force and they'll probably be as loud as the Milan fans.
