“If you’ve ever been to South Lamar, the first change will be immediately obvious when you walk in,” a theater spokesperson said. “We’ve completely updated our lobby and hallways with a totally rad Stanley Kubrick theme, leaning pretty heavily on THE SHINING.”
Fans of the movie can discover numerous references to the movie, including a peephole with a view of the iconic bathroom, an axed door and projections of blood spewing from the elevators.Theater 10 also got a new look, with red premium recliner seats and swivel tables. That’s a change the Alamo Drafthouse has been working to introduce to all its older theaters.
“No more long bars you have to duck under to get to your seat,” the spokesperson said. “Now, every chair gets its own personal table that swings over your lap for easy fried pickle consumption. There’s even a cup holder so you don’t have to worry about knocking your drink over during the movie.”
