It will be a while before a winning bid is announced, though.
Alameda County selected commercial real estate firm DCB Strategies to oversee the bidding process, which isn't quite as simple as a singular date when people hold up a sign at an auction and shout out a price. Written proposals for the site will be accepted all the way up until 4 p.m. on June 30, 2023. Any bidders will have to front a $350,000 deposit to prove they're serious, and all deposits, save for the winner's, will be returned. The minimum bid is a pretty penny: $35.8 million.
After all the written submissions have been collected, folks will have an opportunity to submit oral bids at increments of at least 5%. Will any companies be willing to get into an old-fashioned in-person bidding war? Stay tuned. The Las Vegas Raiders, it should be said, have not had a smooth transition since leaving Oakland in 2020. Their high-paid head coach, Jon Gruden, resigned in 2021 after
were passed along to media outlets. This year, the team traded for star wide receiver Davante Adams, but the move has been to no avail: The Raiders are 2-5 and in last place in the AFC West.
