Alabama’s new business leader is already crafting her agenda.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - , Governor Kay Ivey tapped Ellen McNair to be Alabama’s Department of Commerce Secretary. After 12 years of service, Secretary Greg Canfield is stepping down.program. The Accelerate Alabama program is the strategy for the state’s economic development effort.
“It was a huge honor to be asked to fill that position,” said McNair. “It’s such an important role for the state.” “I’ll now get to work hand in hand with the people across the state, elected officials, professional economic developers,” said McNair. “Their role is so powerful in all of this and coming from the local level, I really understand the importance of their roles.”
“It wasn’t just bring them here and then go on to the next project. It’s been 20 years of support,” she said.
