Peyton Wilson hits a home run in the first minor-league game at the movie site.
The minor-league game at the site of the 1989 movie was a warmup for Major League Baseball’s second Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa. The Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds will square off at 6 p.m. CDT Thursday on the baseball field surrounded by 159 acres of corn, which feature a maze leading fans from the movie site to the ballpark. FOX will televise the game.
For the minor-league game, the Midwest League teams played in throwback uniforms as the Davenport Blue Sox and the Cedar Rapids Bunnies.Wilson played at Alabama in 2020 and 2021 after earning All-State recognition at Hoover High School in 2019. Wilson left the Crimson Tide as a second-round draft pick of the Kansas City Royals in 2021.
