Allie Angelo, 32, of Akron, and her ex-husband, Matthew Sladen, 31, also of Akron, are accused of aiding in the escape of Angelo's fiance and four other inmates from a jail in Franklin Furnace, Ohio.
FRANKLIN FURNACE, Ohio — Four inmates have been captured after five escaped from a jail Saturday in southern Ohio, part of an effort by an Akron woman and her ex-husband to free the woman’s fiancé, according to authorities.
Thoroughman says deputies were called to the Star Community Justice Center in Franklin Furnace just after 8 p.m. Saturday, told that male inmates had escaped, possibly by climbing a fence. An official at the jail told deputies and troopers with the State Highway Patrol that a woman was seen near the fence line just before the escape.
Angelo is accused of going to the jail with Sladen to help her fiancé, Jeffrey Fields, 37, of Cuyahoga Falls, escape. Fields was arrested by a deputy on a road outside of Franklin Furnace a short time after the escape, Thoroughman says.
