Joseph Pinckney, 34, has no chance at parole, according to the Summit County prosecutor's office.
AKRON, Ohio — An Akron resident convicted of fatally shooting a man during a home invasion in 2020 was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison with no chance of parole.
In March, a jury found Joseph Pinckney, 34, guilty of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, and two counts of felonious assault. All of the charges included gun specifications, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said. Authorities say that on Dec. 19, 2020, Pinckney burst through the back door of a home on Wall Street in Akron. Pinckney opened fire and hit Terrance Vandiver Jr., 34, six times, killing him. Another man, Dwayne Jackson, 35, was wounded in the shoulder.Two other men, Danayet Hayes and Aniyah Jenkins, also have been charged in connection with the shooting, according to prosecutors. Their trial dates have not been set.
