The additional space includes a new exhibit workshop, a recording studio, exhibit space, a sensory room, two meeting/party rooms, an office and a nursing/changing room.
on Tuesday celebrated the completion of its 3,000 square-foot expansion in downtown Akron.
“We want everything here to be something that children can touch,” Executive Director Traci Buckner said. “Every exhibit is a learning opportunity for children.”This space offers 3D mats and obstacle-course structures around the perimeter of the room and a video screen projected onto the center of the floor. The video screen projection offers 300 games that encourage physical activity, such as stepping on eggs on the floor.
This exhibit shares information about Earth, climate and outer space via a program that NASA developed that uses a free satellite tracking app. The exhibit features interactive screens that children can touch to see what’s happening in real time. This room has recording-studio acoustics, computers and microphones that allow children to record their own song featuring their own voice and music. The room features a calming atmosphere, low lighting, weighted lap pads, fidget toys, a music wall with nature sounds, a sound-activated light panel and noise-canceling headphones.
