Steven Alker won the 2022 Insperity Invitational on his first trip to play the Tournament Course at The Woodlands.THE WOODLANDS — As a rookie on PGA Tour Champions last year, Steven Alker was the dominant golfer in garnering the season-long Charles Schwab Cup title.
What a start for Alker on a tour for golfers age 50 and up. The second of the New Zealander’s four wins in 2022 came at the Insperity Invitational at The Woodlands Country Club. Alker finished four shots ahead of second-place Steve Stricker and Brandt Jobe. “It’s right up there with the best. It’s really a fun week,” Alker said. “It’s always good to come to a place where you have good vibes, you’ve won, and you come to a golf course you’ve shot good scores. It’s always a good thing and one of my favorite events of the year too.”Folds of Honor has struck a partnership with Insperity to bring back for the 10th year the Greats of Golf. It is a nine-hole scramble featuring 16 legends during the second round on Saturday.
For the sixth time, 12 competitors will attempt to out drive John Daly following the first round on Friday. The Insperity will host local qualifiers through April 16 at PGA Tour Superstore in Galleria, Katy and The Woodlands locations.
