Missouri City woman relearns to walk after chemo side effects damage her nervous system
Breast cancer patient, Twana Krauhs, undergoes physical therapy with her trainer Lynley Moses at TIRR Outpatient Rehab Facility in Sugarland, TX; Friday, November 11, 2022.Certain chemotherapy treatments can result in damage to the nervous system — a condition called peripheral neuropathy.
Krauhs also began falling down and soon relied on a walker to get around. At one point, Krauhs headed into an appointment, wheeling along in her walker, when she looked back at her husband John and said, “My feet won’t go anymore.” “I was grateful,” Krauhs said. “That was a time when I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I’m afraid I’m going to die.’”
“I met Twana, and it was like best friends at first sight,” Moses said. “We had so much in common. We just hit it off.”“The first thing Lynley asked when we started working out was, ‘Why are you here?’” Krauhs recalled.Moses, 34, responded, “I’m going through treatment right now.”
