The remains of Christopher Story, who was 40 when he went missing, were found around five miles away from the neighborhood he was last seen at.
The remains of a man who has been missing for almost ten years have been discovered in western Pennsylvania this week.
Skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Taylor Township, Lawrence County, have been tied to Christopher Story, who was 40 years old when he was last seen at his home Aug. 11, 2013.according to a Facebook post by the the New Castle Police DepartmentThe New Castle Police Department, joined by the FBI and search dogs, found the skeletal remains “over the past few weeks,” the department said on its Facebook page.
By looking for certain medical characteristics and comparing X-Ray scans, Richard Johnson, the Lawrence County Coroner, was able to piece together the identity of the skeletal remains. Federal investigators say Story was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, khaki shorts, a dark baseball cap and black shoes. In its missing persons report, the FBI wrote that he “left behind his wallet, phone charger, and medication,”“We’ve spent 10 years, you know, praying for the best and preparing for the worst, so it’s a sort of closure,”. “We can stop looking every time we ride around in town, we can stop looking at every face we see and see if it’s him.
The Lawrence County Coroner has not ruled on a cause or manner of death, and Story’s remains will be sent to the FBI for forensic testing.
