'It's been a bewildering few weeks but I don't think even the Taliban could have anticipated the pace of events over the last 24 hours.' ABC News' IanPannell has the latest from Kabul as Afghanistan falls to the Taliban.

Ian Pannell reports live from Afghanistan and Martha Raddatz provides analysis on"This Week."as chaos continues after the Taliban took control of the country.

U.S. troops have reportedly established large barriers and roadblocks on the streets near the airport in an effort to both slow and control the fleeing population. The U.S. does not yet have anywhere to bring the thousands of Afghans who have not passed vetting, State Department and Pentagon conceded in their statement, saying,"We fill find additional locations for those yet to be screened,"An emergency session of the United Nations will be held Monday, and leaders around the globe have been issuing responses to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

Russia’s top envoy on Afghanistan has said Moscow will not rush to recognize the Taliban as the country’s new government.
